About

Oscar Mora-Diaz serves as a Senior Research Engineer at the Energy Resources Center (ERC)--an interdisciplinary public service, research, and special projects organization that works to advance energy sustainability and improve the environment, based out of the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago.  Oscar is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Public Housing Energy Savings program that provides energy-saving measures to all northern Illinois housing authorities. Additionally, Mr. Mora-Diaz is a PI to the STEM Scholars Program, a program that provides high school students with hands-on experience with STEM-related activities and sheds light on possible career paths from pursuing higher education in STEM. He also performs investment-grade energy assessments for public sector facilities, modeling the building’s annual energy usage to reduce energy consumption and satisfy energy codes provided by the state of Illinois and ASHRAE. Oscar mentors and trains student interns in the focused area of engineering and energy efficiency. He also researches breakthrough technologies for utility energy efficiency programs. Oscar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's degree in Energy Efficiency from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Mora-Diaz joined the ERC in October 2013 as an Energy Engineering intern.  Upon the completing of his undergraduate degree in December 2014, Oscar relocated to a position as a Research Engineer.  He currently works on energy assessments for the Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC) program, and assists the ERC in a variety of ways as needed.

Oscar is currently working towards his Master’s in Energy Engineering for the University of Illinois at Chicago. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
